Research focus

Dr. Leung conducts research on the adolescent gut microbiome and its association with depressive symptoms, as well as a focus on pro-inflammatory cytokines as the mediator of the gut-brain axis. In addition, she is involved with a study examining the effect of maternal depression (including stress hormones and inflammatory markers) on the infant’s gut microbiome.
